I tried this on a BN i3 NUC with BIOS 0060 and 0064 and was able to write to the System and Chassis fields and was able to see the data in the Windows System Information app. Are you using the built-in EFI Shell? Do you have Secure Boot enabled? I am using a copy of EFI Shell from a USB flash drive and had Secure Boot disabled on both BIOS.

Re: Using a RC6 ir remote to power on NUC7i3BNK
Well, what you need is a one-button remote that sends the right (Power On) code. These camera remotes are sending a completely different code. Maybe you should look for one that is programmable...
Personally, I think the right answer is to never power it off. Use Sleep instead.
Just saying,

Re: Latest BIOS 0064
Sounds like something is corrupted. I suggest that you proceed to install/reinstall BIOS 64 using the Recovery Method. This is documented here: Intel NUC BIOS Recovery Update Instructions. I recommend the jumper-based method, but you can try the Power Button Menu method first if you wish.
Hope this helps,

NUC8I7HVK AMD Radeon driver unusable
Just got a new NUC8I7HVK. I installed every driver and the last one is the AMD Radeon driver downloaded from the NUC support page.
While installing, the screen goes black and then starts flickering, maybe once each 2 seconds. After rebooting, the flickering continues. The driver is absolutely unusable. Upon uninstalling the driver (between the flickers), everything goes back to normal, but I'm stich with the generic VGA driver. I'm connected via an HDMI cable.
Tried upgrading BIOS to latest version 40 and resetting bios to defaults, but the problem persists.
Windows 10 Pro not activated yet (problems getting activation from old NUC). All Windows updates done. Windows version 1803.
I'm a bit disappointed right now. Anyone can help?
Re: Installing driver 23.2 freezes Windows 10
The same issue here. I installed Windows 10 1803 from scratch with the same result: Intel NIC drivers freeze during installation. To identify the problem, I tried to remove everything out of my computer except the essential components but with no luck.
Installing other Intel driver framework based software packages such as the Intel BT Wireless software end up also in a system freeze.
My system configuration:
- ASUS Maximus Hero VII (Z97 Chipset with an integrated Intel® I218V)
- Intel Core i7 5775C
- Zotac GTX 1080 Mini
- HP Intel 7260 PCIe extension card based on Intel 7260.HMWWB.R .
After a little research on the internet, I've found out that other people with older mainboard chipsets (such as Z97) are reporting similar problems.
Re: actual nuc5cpyh not boot from sd, older can
i'm reading this BIOS Version Downgrade Instructions for Intel® NUC and ... i can't do it. I've try with all previous version to the 0069 and always shows the incompatibility version bios message. Only let me install the current 0069 version.

Re: Intel NUC7i3DNH - COM port not working?
Thanks for 'sparkfun' link. We will dig into this.
Meanwhile, here are a few thoughts running in my head:
1) we currently use this board (and before that 3 other types Intel based mATX boards) in our 2U rack : ASRock > H270M Pro4 ... and it's (and all other mATX board's) COM1 header just works for us ... Do you think that on these consumer mATX boards they don't use TTL signaling? From the board's manual ( http://asrock.pc.cdn.bitgravity.com/Manual/H270M%20Pro4.pdf ) all there is about COM port specs is this diagram:
... nothing more about TTL/voltage - can you read from this if it is TTL ?
2) the comunication tests are done with this 'USB to RS232' adapter: Delock Products 62958 Delock Adapter USB 2.0 Type-A male > 1 x Serial RS-232 DB9 male with screws and nuts ESD protectio…
- it uses FTDI FT232RL chpset and from this PDF (https://www.tme.eu/cz/Document/9d2a0f24d19320b803e2081a185f270d/ft232r.pdf ) it seems to me (I am PC guy, not elec. tech. ) that it should work with TTL (5V) ...
Re: Intel NUC7i3DNH - COM port not working?
I don't think this 12V/5V thing is the problem. I think TTL levels have always been common for PC serial 'rs-232' com ports.
Test the COM port with a regular device, say, and old modem. Maybe not so simple nowadays.
You could put a bench VOM on the pins that are output, and any DC power source for those that are input (hm, maybe). I used to use serial ports to measure slotcar track times and it was all simple stuff. As I recall, some pins are used as a switch (on/off, for IRQ). Get a decent reference and have at it.
You might want to use a known-good serial port on a regular PC and make sure you machine works with that, assuming you haven't already.
Re: NUC7I5BNH Thunderbolt to HDMI, NO VIDEO OUTPUT
Yes, the return via the seller shop is already running. Reichelt has already sent this to the manufacturer.
Hope of course now the exchange does not take too long.

Re: actual nuc5cpyh not boot from sd, older can
Pay attention that in Bios ver 0069 the Fixed Disk Boot Sector is set to Write Protect (in the previous version it was set to NORMAL). See in Advanced>Security. So, try to set it to Normal . In my opinion it is not advisable to download bios so many version back. Due to security updates, in some cases it is not possible.

Hello PeterNUC,
Thank you for your response.
Reaching this point, I will actually need you to provide me with the following information so we can attempt to replicate the problem that you are currently experiencing. Please refer to the link below which contains the default information needed for the replication:

NUC5i3RYH 3 blinks, won't boot
Hello
My NUC stopped booting and the screen stays black.
The blue power led blinks 3 times, which seems to indicate a RAM issue (it used to work just fine).
I swapped the RAM stick with 2 others, different brands but both 1.35V, and tried in the 2 RAM slots. Still nothing.
A clear CMOS didn't help either.
The power supplies delivers 19.4V, the 5V, 3.3V and 1.35V on board are present.
Is there a troubleshooting procedure for the Serial presence detect (SPD) ?
Many thanks
Romain
Hard crashes NUC8i7HNK with clean Windows 10 Home install
Hi all,
Just received my new setup with Intel NUC8i7HNK. To get started quickly I first created an image of my old workstation (Intel NUC D54250WYK), but got hard crashes. Had to use the power button for a couple of seconds to reboot the machinTwo days ago I installed Windows fresh with all recent drivers (all from intel site) and bios (0040). Still have crashes. Even when only browsing with firefox with no other applications open.
Added components:

Re: Loud noise out of speakers
Here are two additional samples recorded from Logitech speakers. Turn up the volume and on both files a noise ist listenable right at the begin of a video. But again quieter then on the main audio system. Havent got other speakers to record from main system right now but work on it.
Re: Failures of Intel(R) Display Audio on NUC
I have the same issue where Intel Display Audio stops working when the monitor is Idle and then wakes again. My connection is through the USB-C to DP and this is a new problem since WIndows 10 1803. Disabling/Enabling the Intel(R) Display Audio device in the Device Manager is the only way to resolve this.
Re: Intel NUC7i3DNH - COM port not working?
Hard to say about the COM port implementation on the motherboards from what info you have shown. The RS-232 specification for COM ports has been around since the early days of PCs. If the motherboards work they they probably conform to the RS-232 spec rather than TTL.
Page 27 of the PDF for the chip used in the USB to COM dongle has this bit of info -> . .... feature an built in voltage converter to convert the +5V (nominal) VCC to the +/- 9 volts required by RS232.
This could explain why the dongle works and the +/- 5V TTL COM port in the NUC does not. The +/- 9V is well within the RS232 specification. There is also the matter of the data bit inversion issue described in the 'sparkfun' link.
The comment by Scott Pearson about true RS232 being more noise resistant is on point. I do not know the specs on your laser unit but I would bet that the RS232 interface on it expects true RS232 signal levels as it would be likely to be used in an industrial (electrically noisy) environment.
I would risk the few dollars it would take to order one of the RS232 <-> TTL boards from the 'sparkfun' link and give it a try if you don't want to breadboard a test circuit.

Re: NUC7PJYH Samsung M471A5244BB0-CRC Dual-channel ?
Sorry, I really don't understand what are the results? Do you mean that when the memory is tested in lower slot, one module runs at 6174 MB/s and the other module runs at 6277 MB/s. What abut the speed of the memory modules in the upper slot?
Any way, you have to understand that in order to have computer working in dual channel mode you should have both memory modules with the same performances. This is the reason that to assure this a manufacture prepares modules kits, tested to have the same performance, like for example this one: https://www.amazon.com/Kingston-HyperX-2133MHz-Non-ECC-HX421C14FBK2/dp/B00TY6A1P0/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1…
Having two memory modules with same P/N not always assure that they will work in dual channel mode.
As I've explain you, in my previous post you can use CPU-Z to check the working mode. See the attached image from my computer.

Re: Failures of Intel(R) Display Audio on NUC
I have the same Problem here with my NUC7i5DNHE and LG HDMI Monitor and Windows 10 1803. After sleepmode or when Monitor Blanked or automaticaly switch off, Sound is always disabled.
