Re: Unsupported signal. Check device output

"unsupported signal. Check your device output."

I believe recent Windows10 update potentially caused this problem, either KB4043961 or the one before it.

Specs;

NUC7i3BNH.

4GB RAM.

Sony Bravia TV.

HDMI connected.

I've done nothing else to this system recently other than windows10 updates. So no changes to BIOS at all & this has happened.

Yes, you are right xTropodx, it most definitely is Windows 10.

Apparently, version 1703 build 15063.674 was the latest build that was safe for my system using Optane Memory.  Without the Optane Memory I was able to upgrade later builds of Windows 10 satisfactorily.

Microsoft engineers are supposed to be looking into this problem according to the Microsoft Customer Support person who had to get engineers involved to look at this problem.

I have had to turn off the Windows update facility and wait for the next major update.  I'm definitely going to backup everything (or even make a disk image) before I do any my updates.

Thanks to everyone that assisted, and it helps anyone suffering the same problems.

Thanks  Tom1 for your suggestion; but the situation is still confused; if you will use automatic driver assistant (now only web available) and scan my NUC it shows no update available also if my driver is now 4664 (with these drivers all is like before the last upgrade=quite good).

Very strange.

If i click anyway on update it shows the availability of a new version 4885 (or also if i use your link). Seem like INTEL do not pushes you to update from 4664 to 4885.
In the meantime the version 4771 has disappeared.Tom1 tell me if you look these situation like a nonsense and possible thing by INTEL who is the builder of CPU and NUC.
I did upgraded to 4885 and i hope that will be not necessary to go back to 4664

Antonino, when you say "4885" do you mean 4815?  I was not able to find a "4885" version of the driver.  As for this being nonsense on the part of Intel, I can not say.  I too noticed that the 4771 driver is no longer on Intel's web site.  So far the 4815 is working well for me.  I don't know if it offers any advantages over the 4664 driver.  There may be some features that came out in the Windows 10, 1709 update that need the 4815 driver.  I too hope that neither you nor I will have to revert back to the older version of windows or the driver.

You certainly should be able to; both SATA III and NVMe M.2 SSDs are supported.

For those that are NUC users, I certainly hope that you guys are talking about only the "_BN" versions - which you should (for now) be manually downloading from the NUC7i#BN[H|K] downloads page.

Hello Xavier

Just additional information that may be of some help.

I have now been able to connect the NUC to 2 other monitors with HDMI 2.0.  The results are the same.  When the monitor goes to sleep, the system starts chirping as if some device has been connected ( no device connected) and it does not stop until the monitor is reawaken.

This started to happen when I upgraded the HDMI 2.0 firmware.  I was only able to upgrade when I had 2 devices with HDMI 2.0 ( NUC and Monitor).

I feel that in my case regarding the chirping,  it's related to the firmware upgrade of the HDMI 2.0

In any case I ran your SSU Utility and I am attaching here for your information and perusal.  You may find something in it.

Also I installed the Graphics version you suggested ( 15.45.21.4821), nothing has changed.

Thank you

Re: NUC7i7BNH – 100Hz Refresh Rate at Lower Resolutions

Hi Xavier,

I can confirm that my Samsung C34F791 is working at its native 3440x1440 resolution at 100 Hz, when connected to NUC7i7BNH Thunderbolt 3 port via a USB-C to DisplayPort cable.

However, I was unable to use HDMI 2.0 with the same refresh rate. Not sure if this is possible.

Hope this information will help fellow NUC owners.

Erez.

Good morning,

i'm writing here because i need an advice about recharging my i7 Intel Nuc (model NUC7i7BNH) via external power. I'm working on a Turtlebot 2 and i would like to land my Nuc on it during its operations. So my question is: what powerbank should i get? I think it should give 19V 3A isn't it?

Thank you

N. Scott Pearson, thank you for you continued help.

Sorry to report BIOS fast boot was of no help.  The splash screen is now the Windows Logo instead of "Intel NUC".  The boot time remains 3mins+.

At this stage, I am hoping a clean re-install of Windows 10 Home will resolve the issue.

Before I re-install, any further ideas are welcome.

Thanks again

NUC7i5BNH - No audio through HDMI (TV) in fullscreen for certain games

$

Hello,

I have an issue regarding audio on my new NUC.

First of all let me explain my setup:

I have 2 monitors: one is your common somewhat old PC monitor that connects to the NUC through a HDMI-to-DVI cable. The other monitor is a recent model LGTV which is connected directly through a HDMI cable. Since the NUC only has 1 HDMI port, I alternate between them depending on my needs.

The PC monitor doesn't have its own audio, I use speakers for sound. There are no issues with this setup.

The problem arises when I try to play certain games in fullscreen on my LGTV: the audio device manager will detect my TV and keep doing so when the game is started in window mode, however, when fullscreen is activated the TV will dissapear from the audio device manager. It will reappear after a second or two when you alt-tab to check the device manager.

Since this only happens to certain games, this should be a software issue.

Games that don't have this issue: Cuphead, Xanadu Next.

Games that do have this issue: Little Nightmares, Grandia II Anniversary Edition

As you can see this is a mix of old and new games.

According to Intel's GPU GUI, my driver version is 22.20.16.4815.

I have made quite a bit of research regarding this annoying problem and haven't been able to produce any desirable results, please help me fix this oddity that no doubt devaluates my NUC.

Power Saving Problems in NUC 7X

Dear All

I have found some NON Understandable Power Saving problems in my NUC 7i5BNK.

1:  The displayed windows will be shrinked and will be moved to top left conner and piled up togather after monitor resumed from power saving.

This problem is totally non understandable to me.   I am using a 4k monitor, and normally will open about 10 windows at the same time.  I will carefully arange these windows to proper locations and sizes for my working efficency.   I was totally astounded when first time I saw all of my opened windows were shrinked and moved to top left conner and piled up togather.  I have to move and resize all of them to work again.  So, each time when i resume nuc, i will demn it.

2:  The NUC will not goes to sleep

The monitor will go to standby normally, but no matter how long time passed, the NUC will persisted working hard, and not goes to sleep.   Since the monitor can goes to power saving by time, i think windows timer is working.  I can make the NUC go to sleep by press POWER BOTTON or by windows commands.  but I am still curios why NUC will not go to sleep by time.

3:  Keyboard and mouse lose responses when power saving.

Though the NUC will not goes to sleep, but sometime it do make the keyboard and mouse sleep to dead.   This problem may happens after long enough time should the NUC gose to sleep. When this happens, the keyboard and mouse  will lose response.  and then the monitor will not resume from power saving buy keyboard/mouse.  I have find  a method by use Power Botton to make the NUC realy goes to sleep, and then i can use keyboard/mouse to resume it !  but sometime:

4:  NUC crushed when press POWER BOTTON press

there are about 1/3 or less,  when i press power botton to make the NUC gose to sleep,  but NUC will crushed from windows, and will reboot.  at this point, all of my unsaved work will be lost...

5:  The NUC is not a ACPI computer if Intel Graphic Driver not installed.

To test why NUC have power saving problems, I have unload Intel graphic and use Microsoft basic graphic driver insteed.  Both windows 10 1703 and 1709 are tested.  The result is, with only Microsoft Basic Graphic Driver, this NUC will be not a ACPI computer.  where both NUC and monitor can not go to sleep.   In windows power manage screen,  there is Only black screen useable, the computer sleep time box will dispearl.  when monitor standby time up, The monitor will display a Black screen, but not cut off signal, so the monitor will not gose standby.  but, at this time, the desktop windows will not be shrinked and moved.

If anyone have similar experiences, do please let Intel knows!

Regards

William Wang

Hello Nissportrk ,

I understand, don't worry about the response time.

Thank you for the information provided! I was wondering, were you able to install the drivers and Firmware update recommended above?

Firmware: http://intel.ly/2yzdFGK
Driver: http://intel.ly/2ysG427

Also, have you tested this system with different Type C cables?

Thanks,
Esteban C
