Re: NUC7i5DNKE no UEFI boot

I'll try this with the next NUC system I get.

The same thing happened with a NUC7i3DNKE we got a couple of weeks ago. I just put the M.2 SSD into a NUC5i5 and installed the OS there and then moved it to the NUC7i3DNKE and let it finish the detection and install there. Worked fine that way. M.2 SSD showed up under UEFI and I was able to enable Secure Boot.

Thanks for the update.

Screen flickering on 4k TV with video in browser

Hello, I am getting a little frustrated and would like some help. I am completely 100% updated on all drivers and the BIOS for my machine (NUC6I5SYH).

I am connected from my Nuc to a Samsung 4k TV (NU7100).

I have Kodi on my machine, and all video runs completely 100% fine from Kodi. However, as soon as I start streaming video on Chrome or Edge, the screen starts flickering. If I close the browser, the screen flickering stops. I am also including the information from me running SSU.

Please help me figure out how to stream video on my browser over a 4k tv. Please.

Getting Rid of Realtek Audio

Uninstalling Realtek Audio only works until windows update decides to update it.........

This is a method that I found on the Net that works, Windows update does not show Realtek Audio anymore.

I'm not sure if this affects the sd card reader since I dont use it?

--------

Here's how to permanently get rid of the Realtek driver:

disable, disconnect or unplug any internet connection to prevent Windows from reinstalling the driver,

uninstall "Realtek High Definition Audio Driver" and restart to make sure it's gone,

go to C:\Program Files and create a new folder called "Realtek",

open the properties dialog, go to the "Security" tab and click on "Advanced",

click on "Change Permissions", then "Disable inheritance", and in the new dialog select "Remove all inherited permission from this object",

click on "OK" and "Yes" etc. to apply the changes.

What a waste of time and effort. Just go into the BIOS and disable the device. Disabled devices are not visible to Windows and no driver will be necessary nor will any be installed.

HelloRobert.Bell ,

I'm sorry for the delayed answer. It was night here and I was sleeping.

1. After pressing F4 from recovery menu, NUC shall reboot and the recovery shall start after about 30 seconds. Fact that instead to starting recovery process, your NUC reboots into Windows, means that after rebooting, valid bios file wasn't recognized on USB memory stick. Try to fully reformat your USB stick to FAT32. Please use Windows machine (not MAC or Linux). Fully reformat your USB stick (with quick option disabled) and then copy again the bios file. Now, start the recovery again.

2. Updating bios using recovery method (F4) is more effective that F7 method. In the first method, all parts of bios firmware are re-flashed.

3. Recovering bios with security jumper removed is similar to recovery from Power Button Menu. The difference is that it shall start automatically, without user intervention.  Since (in my opinion) your USB is faulty or is incorrectly formatted, also in this method the bios file will not be found and your NUC will boot into Configuration Menu (see the attached image), instead of recover bios firmware.

Leonardo  - I have installed 6136 driver on both NUCs and will check tonight if that helps.

BigBear - I couldn't install 6136 driver over latest driver (same issue you had). I had to rollback driver in order to get 6136 to install.

Hello kho

Thank you for joining the community.

Could you provide me with a description of the environment set up that you have built? Type of connection from NUC to the receiver, form the receiver to display and from the receiver to speakers.

If the NUC is directly connected to the display do you have any audio issues?

What is the model part number of the display and the model part number of the receiver?

Regards,
Leonardo C.

Hello,

Thanks for your answer.

I already know and did turn it off in Windows... but i want to disable it in Bios.

I dont want Windows to have any access to it.

With other NUC's that have Mics build in, it is possible to turn them off in Bios..

Hell Intel,

Why isn't it possible to disable the MicrofonArray in Bios of the NUC8i7HVK?

With other NUC's you have that Option...

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Is there any exe version for bios version 40 for the NUC8i7HNK and HVK?

hey intel_corp thanks for the idea, but when I got and search for Downloads for Intel® NUC Kit NUC6i5SYH

The only graphics version it's offering is the 6025 one.

I dont see the 6136 one there. NOR does the automated intel drivers think i'm out of date. It is only presenting me with the 6025 version.

No, there isn't. You need to use the F7 method.

In fact, I will say more. The F7 method is the method that you should always be using, IMHO. I know that it seems easier to use the Windows Express BIOS Update (EBU) executables, but I have seen these executables brick the BIOS on a number of occasions and I will not use them until I expressly see a message from Intel indicating that the cause has been found and addressed (unfortunately, this problem occurs so sporadically that it is proving difficult for them to find). At the same time, there are a number of minor bugs in the EBU executable itself that never seem to get fixed either. These bugs cause it to do things like (1) say that the installation failed when, in fact, it succeeded and (2) say that the BIOS is a Unsupported Legacy BIOS when, in fact, it is not.

Just saying,

Let me add that I have absolutely no idea whether the lack of an EBU executable for BIOS 40 is as a result of the findings that I detailed. Intel would need to tell us why no executable is posted.

When I signed up for this forum I put in a username now I'm trying to remove it since when you post it uses your name anyway...

But there is Nowhere to Edit or Remove the username.

Anyone figured out how to do that?

Scott,

My NUC is a NUC7i5BNHXF

I tried all kind of combos on the panel you are talking about.

The problem with UN-ticking Audio in Onboard Device Configuration is that You Loose HDMI and DSP Audio if you do that......

HDMI is my preferred audio device. That's why I went for the "Hammer".......

BTW, I have had no loss of audio Devices since Removing Realtek and disabling 2381 Display Port Audio.
