Hallo Leon

Genau das war das Problem. Ich habe die Windows-Installationsdatei auf einen USB-Stick geladen, und damit Installiert und es läuft.

Danke für die Hilfe

Hi,

It would be great if this can work. It's the only reason I upgraded the NUC.

Graphics driver is: 15.45.14.4 590

BIOS: 0036 ( BNKBL357.86A )

Hey Allan,

Thanks for asking. I am going to observe it a little longer. I'll have to shut down and restart more often than I normally do. I will keep you updated in the next few days.

Hello Amy,

Thank you for your response.  Yes, I used the exact same link you posted in your reply to get the Integrator Kit.

I used BIOS 0042 (KY0042.bio) that also came with the kit. Then I proceeded to follow the example given in the PDF that also came with the kit.

Since I wanted to learn the tool, I changed pretty much every values that were given in the example except the Microsoft licensing section which I have no use for.

Here is a picture I took while it was working. Setting the values was not the problem and having them stick was not the problem. I was able to reboot many times after setting these.

IMG_2207.jpg

The problem came where I was following the part of the example about creating a new, custom BIOS based on these values. I followed the part where I would replace the image shown at boot with one of my company.  I followed the guidelines, my image was a jpg, something about a similar size of the original largest files given by Intel with the kit.

Was less than 120KB.  I built the new BIOS with that (no screenshot for this one unfortunately) but I do still have the custom BIOS I built.

Problem came when I wanted to apply this new custom BIOS to the NUC. This is where it started acting up...

Thank you Amy for your help so far.

Re: How to "Linux" the NUC

OK, so this is the question I need a answer from Intel experts.

I am using firmware SYSKLi35.86A.0054.2016.0930.1102

I would like to upgrade to address the poweroff problem (I hope the new firmware will fix this).

I have done some research about this and that if I upgrade my NUC with Ubuntu installed, I will not be able to boot back in my system and will need to do a fresh install.  Is this true?

I have updated the bios before installing the system and not after that.

Please share your experience with this tricky situation.

NUC Drivers - How do YOU find them?

Hello,

During my recent post about an issue, it was commented by someone that I was using an 'old' graphics driver.  I wanted to spin up a quick discussion about this because it seems unclear to me how folks are supposed to be keeping their systems up to date.

If you go to the Intel Downloads page, and search for 'NUC6i7KYK', you get a list of a mix of drivers and items relating to the NUC system.  Scanning down the list, you'll see:

Intel® HD Graphics Driver for Windows 7*, 8.1*, and Windows® 10 for Intel® NUC Kit NUC6i7KYK

Installs the Intel® HD Graphics Driver 15.45.10.4542 for Intel® NUC Kit NUC6i7KYK...

This is why I claimed I was using the latest driver.  It's the latest one that shows up via this search method.  I do understand that if I search for 'Graphics', I see many, many entries, including:

Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows* [15.45]

Installs the Intel® Graphics Driver 15.45.14.4590 for Windows*.

So, are we supposed to search for the type of system we have to find the drivers, or are we supposed to search each subsystem, one at a time, to ensure we have the latest driver for each subsystem?  Why does Intel post drivers with no system type identified, and then come back and post drivers again saying they are 'for Intel NUC Kit NUCxxxyyy'?  Am I supposed to trust and use drivers that do not specifically identify that they are for my NUC?

I can say that in most support/download systems on the Internet, you are first asked to identify your hardware before they present you with a list of download choices.  Intel's site seems to just toss everything into one big list, which you then have to search within.  And searching by system name/type doesn't seem to give you the best/latest driver.

Thanks

Also, I just tried the Intel Driver Update Utility and it doesn't seem to be the answer.  When I install and run it, it is actually attempting to downgrade my Graphics Driver from 4590 back to 4542 "because that's the latest one for my system."  No doubt it is doing the same with other subsystems where I am currently using newer drivers that have not been identified for specific use on my NUC (Wireless, Ethernet, etc.).

Re: Intel Wireless AC 8265 Support of Bluetooth aptX (low latency)

Hi, just wondering if you've heard anything new.

From what I understand the ability to utilize the aptx (LL) codec depends in part on what underlying chipset is implemented for the bluetooth unit.  For example THIS USB DEVICE implenments a CSR (Qualcomm) BlueCore 8670 chipset wherein the provided Windows 10 drivers allows it to transmit aptx (LL).

In part to figure out if the 7th gen NUC's are capable of doing this, we need to know what bluetooth chipset is in use (generally CSR / Broadcom support aptX), and then to know if Intel's driver package allows for transmit of aptX-LL.

Hi Juan & N.Scott.Pearson,

Unfortunately, problem is still persistent.

I have tried both RAM modules in the lower slot and left the upper module empty (1 module after the other).

I got the same result. The only difference this time was i got the warning at the BIOS screen that RAM has been decreased which is logic because I used only 1 8GB module in the lower slot for each trial separately.

I am currently out of troubleshooting steps and I believe i will be contacting the support as advised for an RMA

Best Regards

Re: Reboot on shutdown when connected to display usb hub

Hello :

Thank you for letting us know the BIOS is up to date, that is something we always recommend to do in this type of scenarios.

As you mentioned above, the problem seems to be related to the Display USB hub itself, since the NUCs work fine without using that device.

In order for us to be able to confirm that information, could you please provide the model of the Display USB hub that you are using? This is in order for us to be able to check the specifications of it.

Which Windows version are you using on the NUCs?

You gave us three different models of NUCs in the post, just to confirm, the problem happens with all those three models or just with one specific model?

Any further questions, please let me know.

Regards

Alberto

bluepill, I am sorry to hear that! You can try testing the unit with one memory stick, and try one more time clearing the CMOS battery. If the issue persists the next thing we should be looking at is a replacement for the unit.

Amy.

Re: INTEL NUCi7 3D MVC ISSUE

The same issue here with 2017 Dell XPS13 laptop 9360. Can't output 3D MVC "Frame Packing" 1,920 x 2,205 at 24fps (3D Blu-Ray) output.

CPU: 7th Generation Intel Core i7-7500U

Kaby Lake architecture

Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 620

The issue is common to all Kaby Lake computers with HDMI 2.0 and similar.

This is exactly what I am trying to avoid doing, I don't really want to wipe everything off my device and rebuild it again so that I can install a firmware patch.

I attempted to work around it by using Windows 10 To Go (A windows live image essentially for the *nix users), but for whatever reason that doesn't want to boot on the skull canyon either so I'm pretty much screwed at this point.

The yellow ports will always powered up when in sleep mode, the blue ones should be turned off.

I followed the instructions posted before, and it disabled the USB power when the unit was in sleep mode.

Amy.
